As the chair of the University of New Mexico Hospital Board of Trustees, I am honored to support the UNM Hospital 2024 mill levy.
UNMH is the only teaching hospital in the state and fills a critical role in the New Mexico health care system — it is a lifeline for families in Bernalillo County and across the state. The funds generated by the mill levy are essential to the support of the hospital’s operational and maintenance needs that, in turn, ensure that UNMH continues to provide the highest quality health care to our community.
The Board of Trustees oversees UNMH’s clinical operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and supports the educational and research components of the UNM Health Sciences Center. The mill levy’s operational and maintenance funds support the facilities where training is provided for future doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, an investment in the delivery of high-quality care. This support also allows for research that advances medical knowledge and innovation.
The mill levy funds are essential to maintaining access to UNMH’s specialized health care, such as the state’s only Level 1 trauma center, the National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, and the state’s most advanced pediatric care.
These funds allow UNMH to invest in the future of health care by ensuring its facilities, staff, and technology remain on the cutting edge.
The University of New Mexico Hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. It is a critical component of the fabric of this community, offering advanced and specialty care that cannot be found anywhere else in New Mexico. The mill levy is essential to the hospital’s ability to support these critical services upon which our community depends.
Your vote ensures that UNMH can continue to serve the citizens of Bernalillo County and New Mexico with excellence for years to come. Please join me in supporting the mill levy and vote “yes” on Nov. 5.
